Dawood was retained to provide field survey, geotechnical engineering, land development plans, and a subdivision plan for this project located on 2nd Street in Downtown Harrisburg. The City of Harrisburg was working towards modifying several lots and subdividing current lots for future businesses within the project area.
After the project was completed, a local developer was preparing to place a diner on the project site. As the original site planner, Dawood was approached to prepare a land development plan for the front lot where the diner would be located. Our staff produced a plan which included not only a site for the diner but also an outdoor patio and stage area. The local developer purchased an old-fashioned mobile diner and placed it on the site: the Tom Sawyer Diner, an establishment on “Restaurant Row,” is now a popular eatery and night spot in Downtown Harrisburg.
