On June 7, Bony Dawood, president and founder of Dawood Engineering, addressed the graduating seniors of Susquehanna Township High School (Dauphin County) after he received the Alumni Achievement Award.
In his speech, Bony focused on two main topics: appreciating diversity and the importance of risk taking. Bony and his family came to Susquehanna Township from Burma in the 1960s, and that experience helped show him that people from completely different backgrounds and experiences can work together. There is strength in diversity.
In 1992, Bony took a risk in starting an engineering firm, with all the inherent challenges that an entrepreneur may face. Today, Dawood Engineering has more than 140 employees with offices in five states. Without the willingness to try, this never would have happened. “If you aren’t willing to bet on yourself to accomplish something extraordinary,” he said to the crowd, “then who will?”
Congratulations to Bony for this Alumni Achievement Award and to the Susquehanna Township High School class of 2019! We wish you success as you move to the next phase of your life.
